While much of the world celebrates Valentine’s Day, Slovenians have long embraced a different tradition of love. March 12th has always been considered the true day of romance, when birds find their mates and begin their journey together—a beautiful metaphor for love that stands the test of time.
According to local folklore, the first bird a single woman sees on the morning of March 12 will reflect the character of her future husband. While not scientifically proven, it’s a charming tradition that brings a sense of magic to early spring.
Even our Slovenian language speaks the language of love:
❤️ LJUB (pronounced "LYOOB") is shared across all Slavic languages and is always connected with LOVE. Therefore, our capital, LJUB-LJANA, means "beloved city."
❤️ Even the name of our country, S-LOVE-NIA, carries love within it.
❤️ Our national symbol, the Linden tree (LIPA), has heart-shaped leaves, a reminder that love is deeply rooted in our land.
LUV Fest is the perfect time to experience Ljubljana without the crowds—a rare opportunity to appreciate the city’s beauty at a slower, more intimate pace.
This is your chance to rediscover romance, culture, and the joy of travel—at your own pace.
