The colorful and nature friendly New Art has dramatically changed the look of Europe at the end of 19<sup>th<\/sup> and beginning of 20<sup>th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n<p>The leading figure for us, who were at that time a part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, was Otto Wagner, the professor of architecture in Vienna.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Vienna was our University center. We need to remember, there was no university in Slovenian language at that time. Many exceptional architects, among others: Max Fabiani, Josip Vanca\u0161, Jurij Zaninovi\u0107, Ciril Metod Koch, managed to get projects all around the monarchy and shared their knowledge, ideas and projects. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"\/en\/tours-ljubljana\/ljubljana-your-way\/\">When you travel around Slovenia<\/a><\/span>, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia or Austria, you might notice similar building d\u00e9cor and familiar architect names.<\/p>\n<p>In Ljubljana, at that time the capital of Carniola, a milestone in architecture was the earthquake in April 1895. Many buildings were damaged, many remains removed, even the city center was moved to the left riverbank. A new, star shaped Pre\u0161eren\u2019s Square was designed and many <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/X-UXwo_guHs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">colorful, elegant buildings<\/a><\/span> around that area have brought a fresh air in Ljubljana\u2019s architecture. A unique part, many unique stories.<\/p>\n<p>Go for a stroll in the area towards Ljubljana\u2019s railway station or towards Tivoli Park.
