The hay storage was one of the most important farmer\u2019s works, if they wanted to have enough food for their animal throughout the cold and snowy winter. All around the world you would find similar ways, however in Slovenia they are very unique.<\/p>\n
When you are out of the city, on the countryside, very soon you are going to notice interesting, free standing, vertical, wooden, and open and roofed constructions in the middle of the fields. They look as a goat and that is how they have got their name: KOZA or a goat in Slovenian Language.<\/p>\n

Between (mainly wooden, however they can be made of concrete as well) vertical polls there are horizontal beams. On those beams farmers put wheat, hay, corn.... to be dried.<\/p>\n
After drying the food was brought to their homes and kept in a barn or a double hayrack - TOPLAR (from German word DOPPLER). Those ones you are going to see around farmers homes in the villages.<\/p>\n
Hayracks are located in mainly in Carniola: if you a joining us on a tour to the Alpine area, like\u00a0lake Bled<\/a>\u00a0or mediaeval town\u00a0\u0160kofja Loka<\/a>\u00a0or to our\u00a0Postojna underground cave<\/a> or to the\u00a0off the beaten path<\/strong>\u00a0Dolenjska, you would always have a chance to admire these unusual constructions.
