Water - The source of life

Did you know, that Slovenia is one of the rare countries in the world that recognized the access to drinking water is a basic human right? That is how we rendered any privatization of water resources impossible. The water resources are managed by the state.

Whenever travelers plan their trip, rises up the key question: what are we going to drink, do we need to boil the water, where do we buy bottled water, how much, does it cost, etc.)

Well, in Slovenia it is different. We are blessed. There are plenty of natural springs and water sources. Visitors enjoy stretching their legs along many bigger or smaller, cuter gorges and streams all around Slovenia. Fresh, crystal-clear water coming under the mountains will be a true refreshment for your thirsty body. Almost half of Slovenian territory is a karstic area and- lime- stone is the best natural filter. Wherever on tour, there will be possibilities to get drinking water! Just remember the word water in Slovenian language: VODA-yes, you are right- like VODKA, however, voda has no alcohol). Make sure you are going to bring potable water bottle (or you are going to support local economy and buy a glass bottle as a souvenir).

Tap water is safe to drink. Before going on a tour or after a tour - no worries, just get a sip of water from your bathroom- it is safe and refreshing- even more than the one in a plastic bottle.
